Gandhi and Ayurveda ---- 12

Gandhi is relevent today because all the political systems have almost been tried and resulted in fiasco, and Gandhi's political paradime is the only one left untried. People have been befooled, and also, people were adopting the "short term heaven and long term hell" formula in life, which has resulted in drugries in all aspects in Human life and degradation of Ecology at the global level. Now the time has come when people have to rethink and change their ways, if they want to save this planet… Continue

America needs Gandhian principles now...

Whilst we here in America are now blessed with a President who is sound of mind, body, and spiritual practice, the every day American still needs to have a better understanding of Bapu's principles and ideals. The younger generations here cannot even relate to something as recent as the Vietnam War as other than a "historical moment", and most of them don't know who Gandhiji was, or have even heard his name. I would like to entertain ideas on school programs bringing the Mahatma to the… Continue

Gandhi and Ayurveda --- 11

Gandhi has done varities of experiments on 'Brahamcharya'. There are so many confusons on this term 'Brahamcharya'. It is a grand concept according to Vaidic way of thinking. It concists of two Sanskrit terms. One is 'Braham' and other is 'Charya'. The meaning of first trem is 'Universal Power', the 'Ultimate Reality', and meaning of second term is "to live with". So the total concept is how to live moment to moment with the "Ultimate Reality' or 'Universal Power' ?

Now in the… Continue

Gandhi and Ayurveda -- 10

Fifty years back in rural India there were no big hospitals, not many doctors, people were having comparatively good health except a few exceptions. I worked for three years in a couple of villages of North India on the border of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab from 1957-60. For example, a small village named Hakumatpur, Tehseel Garhshanker, Dist. Hoshiarpur, there was no doctor in this village. Infact in the sourrounding cluster of six villages there was only one doctor who used to live in village… Continue

Gandhi and Ayurveda---9

The basic problem with the present-day World is, and for that matter, it has been from time immemorial; that human being seldom make use of his/her higher faculties like mental and spiritual one. It is not only human-system's problem, it is very much affected by the Social Dynamic as well. Social Systems do not allow human being to think beyond horizental plain, I mean limiting human thinking only to wordly accepted physical methods as usual. Moreover, social systems do not encourage human… Continue

Gandhi and Ayurveda--8

Ayurveda verbally means the Science of Life. The Sanskrit word Ayurveda concists of two syllables: Ayur+ Veda, Ayur in Sanskrit means life and Veda means knowledge. The basic difference between Sanatan Wisdom and moderm medical system is the level of awareness. Sanatan Wisdom believes a person is living only when his body, mind and soul are fully alive and aware. While modern medical science believes only in physical 'breathing'. This is what Gandhi tried to prove in his experiments with truth… Continue

Giving Up on Gandhi, by Buying him

First Published at

Indian government and tycoons have paid millions for Mahatma Gandhi’s personal belongings in auctions in the US ( News item 1 , News item 2 , News item 3 , News item 4 , News item 5). As India acquires physical scraps of memory of its founding father, we lose the last remnants of his legacy. The Congress party led government makes a pretense of following the vote-winning Gandhian ideals and clings to every symbol associated with Mahatma Gandhi to… Continue

My philosophy of poetry and art

Dance and poetry are committed to reviving old values and constructing new ones in accordance with the changing times. I like to present new things. To achieve my goal, I have developed my own philosophy in writing and dancing, through which I explore and, hopefully, offer some meaning and relevance.

This philosophy, for me, means to fully observe life and the world through literature, arts, and dance to explore peace, love, happiness, and pleasure. And finally, to explore oneself to… Continue

Honoring Rabindranath Tagore

I was Walking the streets with Bengali poets in Dhaka, paying tribute to Rabindranath Tagore.

Kathmandu, Nepal, — I saw a movie by Satyajit Ray named “Charulata” (“The Lonely Wife”) written by Rabindranath Tagore. I was very much impressed with this popular movie. It stayed on my mind. In Kathmandu, it is not easy to have an environment to freely talk about movies or poetry. My grandfather, who is always concentrated on the local newspaper, will call… Continue

Interviewing Bapu

Since 9/11, the day when WTC was attacked by the Islamists, I am talking to Bapu not only in dreams but also when I am awake & fully concious. Just after few days of 9/11(on 2nd October, 2001), I wrote the following letter to American President-

Hon'ble President,

United States Of America,

White house,

Washington D.C.

Respected Sir,

Gandhi Peace Walk -- February Blog Self-Love What's All The Fuss?

Well my dear girls and boys, here we are again. I am now in Little Rock, Arkansas, (bless my little Irish feet) the weather has been nippy but nice. It's been a busy month. I've talked about a lot of topics during the last eight months of my peace walk across America, but there is one topic I have avoided until now. The topic is Self-Love. Now what does that actually mean to love yourself. Should I hug myself, kiss myself all over, or even make love to myself (clean thoughts only please).… Continue
