Dear Ricardo.

I visited and stayed at Dattapur (Kumarappapuram). I also visited the site at NIRD Hyderabad where the model homes are. I am just finishing my dissertation. It was really great of you to send me the links. In a few weeks, I will become more active on this site. Few more days of intensive writing.

Until then
Heartiest regards
Venu

Thank you for the photo. I am just back from the Vinobha Bhave Ashram in Baroda, although it was a nature cure ashram, the energy of Vinobha bhave and simple living could be felt everywhere. I also met Dr. Shah who knew Vinobha Bhave. A very enriching experience.

Dear Sri Riccardo Gramegna,
Nice to know you have been able to move with Vinobaji.I had also just SEEN him when I was eight or nine.I just recollect the fragile figure but with a very determined face!
The determination only brought a social revolution in India In this materialistic world he was able to ensure rich voluntarily donating lands to landless! But today this Gandhian concept has become an Utopian dream for the present generaion!
Can this concept ever be revived?

Yes, our old friend and master Vinobaji... in a so post-modern photograph...
I was most welcomed by him also in the 80's in his ashram. I keep still some of his books signed by him. I was sending him some salutations from Lanza del Vasto (Shantidas), who has come to Portugal, to spread non-violence, sometimes.
We are still much in need of that globaly, that really we have to develop a stronger awareness of the eternal value (dharma), or even useful (karma) of non-violence...
How much the equation non-violence=love is right for you? Om Tat Sat. Shanti

Dear Riccardo,
Thanks for sharing the Jai Jagat vision. Fantastic words, indeed hope we see that one united world in our lifetime.

Thanks also for sharing the video on the World March - wish I had known about it and participated in the 2009 march. It ties in to my thoughts on doing something to raise awareness about World NonViolence Day. I shall contact the "World Without Wars" organization to see if they have something planned for 2010. I am hoping that we can gain enough momentum around the world to start observing International NonViolence Day. If you have ideas on how we could start a wave of awareness about this day, please let me know.

Thanks!
Arch

Hi Riccardo!
Thanks for your interest. I am also interested in your work and would love to interview you about it for my dissertation research if you are interested to share more. I am conducting dissertation research tentatively entitled: Global Nonviolence: Diffusion, Dynamics, and Impacts. The goal of my research is to look at the historical spread of an explicitly nonviolence tactics, to trace the rise of the international organization of nonviolence, and to test to efficacy of different tactics and the influence of transnational support for nonviolent movements. I draw data from a number of sources. For my historical component I rely upon peace historians work, organizational histories and newspaper sources. For my organizational analysis I begin with the Union of International Association's Annual Yearbook database and then search through websites and online archives. I am also interviewing organizers and would love to interview you about your work if you are interested. Finally I am working towards the construction of a statistical analysis of the effects of different types of international support in different phases of conflict resolution. What I hope to ultimately provide is a global overview of what the international community has achieved in spreading nonviolence and where the challenges lie. Right now I am still in the early stages of research but will keep everyone updated as I progress.

If you are available for an interview I can contact you via skype. You can get a free skype account online for free international online calls. If you email me I will give you my account name. scruzch@emory.edu

I am also looking for someone who is going to the conference in January. Are you going? I have to teach a class and am unable to attend. But I would like to send my tape recorder to someone so I might have notes from the conference- a very exciting conference indeed.

Looking forward to hearing more from you soon. Happy new year!
Selina
