The front and back covers
In his foreword the Principal of the College Dr. N. Hala Naik, who is also the Director of the Gandhian Study Centre writes: -
"It gives me great pleasure to know that the Gandhian Study Centre or the Department of Gandhian Studies is bringing out its chronicle and a special bulletin entitled Gandhi Smriti . The main aim of this publication is to record the history of the centre and to document its activities.
The UGC sponsored Gandhian Study Centre of the college, popularly known as Gandhi Adhyayana Kendra, is evolving year by year after its modest beginning in 2007. Since then it has contributed in its own way to disseminate and popularise Gandhian teachings across the region. At the same time we cannot forget that our College is itself a “Memorial to the Mahatma.” The college named after the Mahatma was inaugurated in 1949. In the year 1954 the college had proposed to build an exclusive section dedicated to Gandhi. As a result of this initiative there was a well-stocked Gandhian Section in the library by the year 1974. It was this legacy that had laid a permanent base for Gandhian Studies in our College. I am happy that this special bulletin has thrown light on all these lesser known facts..."
