School wide non-violence Intitative

My son, age 6, and I live in a what is considered a rough neighborhood. I don't know I think Americans are spoiled. We don't have much but have each other, plenty of love , our garden and each other. I work in his school so two years ago we began the Legacy Garden, We donated plants that had been in our family for 30 or more years. We wanted the students to take pride in their school and community. The Gardner is a small success. This year we began a nonviolence initiative. Three young people… Continue

NON-VIOLENT ACTION IS POSSIBLE IN ALL SITUATIONS?

I was speaking at the Catholic Worker, New York, it was 2nd October 2007 and the topics was Relevance of Gandhi in Present Times. I must tell you the day was not good, weather wise. I was not sure if some people will be able to come. To my surprise, it was a jampacked, people were standing soaked in rains. After I spoke about half an hour, there were a row of questions. One of the main questions was, Is nonviolent action is possible in a situation like Hitler Rule? I humbly…

HOW AND WHERE DID I FIRST LEARN NONVIOLENCE -IN- ACTION IN MY LIFE ?

It was the month of June 1984, and I was at the University town of North California, named Arceta. Its name was Humbold State University. The program here, was organised by my young friend and a scholer Ben Sasway, who was the Coordinator of my program in North California. I must say a sentense more about Ben. It was he how was the first Draft- Resister after the Veatnam War, in United States. There were about 100 students and faculty members attending the meeting in the hall. Thae subject…

take back gandhi's 9/11

a few years ago, the un declared october 2, gandhi-ji's birthday, international day of nonviolence, which this year seems to be coming into its own, coinciding with 2010's great anti-war rallies. without seeming curt and detracting, top down un authoritarian tapping has soft meaning. plus anyone has a birthday, even jesus, and being born is really not anything the person achieved in life.

when we first decided on october 2, 2006 to read poetry at the san francisco gandhi…

THE GANDHIAN WAY

If you want to be Gandhian in your actions and life (practical only ),you will have to follow eleven vows of Gandhi without any fail and any thought ,action or behaviour that goes against these vows ,means that you fail Gandhi . Any action of any person or group can be justified ,verified ,tested and approved by these vows fallowed not in words but in spirit and if any thing goes against or deviates a little ,one falls down from the rope of life like an acrobat and can not call it Gandhian .… Continue

AYURVEDIC KITCHEN---2

In my first blog on AK, I have suggested that if we can reduce the amount of salt and shuger in our daily intake of our meals we can get rid of hypertension, diabetics, heart trouble and many other problems that 80% of people have been suffering from as per my own clinical experiences with my patients in Europe, UK, USA and former USSR, for the last more than twenty five years of my Ayurvedic practice. Actually speaking we are not very clear about our own body, though we have won over the moon… Continue

Volunteer story

My volunteering teaching at Parijat Academy

The thought of doing something for issues not directly related to one’s own self or loved ones is itself beautiful and rare. As such, given an opportunity to serve the needy or work selflessly towards the betterment of the society should play a vital role in everyone’s lives. Only then we can be… Continue
