100 YEARS SINCE L.N. TOLSTOY'S passing - his "Address to Americans"

Early in 1890 Tolstoy described America as "the country most sympathetic to me," suggesting sustained interest and understanding on both sides. [1] Tolstoy's most direct knowledge of America came from personal letters, occasional visitors, books by Americans, and subscriptions to several periodicals. The constant flow of letters from America often concerned religious and moral topics. Ordinary citizens as well as religious thinkers gave Tolstoy warm support for his new Christianity,…

Remembering Acharya Vinobaji-10

There was a lot of controversy and confusion over Vinobaji's view about Internal Emergency, declaired by Mrs. Gandhi in the year 1975. Vinobaji used a Sanskrit term 'Anushasan Parva' for it. This term had been used during the Mahabharta Period thousands of years ago, when the Mahabharta Battle was on, between the Kaurvas and Pandvas. This term was meant for both, the Party in Power as well as the Opposition Parties.

Vinobaji used this term to tell the people that when…

BALANCED THINKING AND ACTIONS.

BALANCED THINKING AND ACTIONS.

The greatest need for thinking and actions to bring about Global Peace is for the individual to realize the measure of spirituality in their life. No government or dictator can stop people from developing their own spirituality. This will transform their peaceful ways to generate peace-seeking groups of non-violence to change their Country to a peaceful member of the world society and develop a transparent based democracy for all to see. World Freedom Day

9th November has been observed as the "World Freedom Day" as pronounced by the U.S since 2003.

It was this day in 1989, the infamous Berlin Wall began to fall and get demolished for the re-unification of East Germany and West Germany. The formal re-union took place on 3rd October of the same year. The former U.S. President George W. Bush started this celebration in 2003 and made this day an official holiday for America.

I could remember vividly…

REMEMBERING ACHARYA VINOBA BHAVE-------12

Vinobaji in the last years of his life, stoped giving his autographs to his visitors. He always used to give his signatures on his book, Gita Parvachan, commentary on Bhagvad Gita, to his visitors. After he took to 'Kshetra Sanyasa', means permanently stopped going out of the Ashram; and entering in to Sukshma Pravesh, means entering from the state of physical body in to settled body, the 'Atman'. At this mental stage Vinobaji used to write only "Ram Hari" in the place of his name Vinoba on the… Continue

REMEMBERING ACHARYA VINOBA BHAVE-------11

Vinobaji was a man of new ideas. Every moment he was discovering positive and innovative thinking. For educating new generation, he had a lot of things to offer to the World. He used to say three things are essentials for this preparation. Young generation has to be prepared, in order to make them fit and updated for the Twenty First Century challenges. Old methods are no more relevent for modern age. These three fundamentals were : Yoga, Udyoga and Sahyoga. I very well remember, when as young… Continue
