Sir,

I am from Ahmedabad, and used to visit Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati. As

Gujarat is the most developed state the business tourists came in lot

but they never visit Gandhi ashram, same way local people also avoid to

visit gandhi Ashram.Around more then ten lakhs people regularly pass on

the road where the ashram situated.

Why? It is not that they are not interested in Gandhiji but it seems

GANDHI' S DREEM : THINK IT OVER

Mahatma Gandhi’s political ideas, not only in India alone, but also in the Modern political History of the World, have been coming up rhetorically in the past sixty years. Mahatma Gandhi had realized in early struggle in South Africa in the year 1904 that Democracy in the present shape could never do good of the people. So when the question of joining the interim government came in the year 1935, Gandhi was not its favor. Indian National Congress did not agree with Gandhi and he was left alone.… Continue

Why Gandhi, The Idea !

Why Gandhi, The Idea !

Today the world is after Info-Tech. It is a good thing to have the latest information technology. It helps to know about our physical world. But it is a partial truth. Human being feels satisfies only with having information and not putting it into positive action, it makes him/her stagnated at the vertical growth level. It appears to be the global human crises in present times. The time is soon approaching that have we to move ahead from this impasse.… Continue

Democracy that depends on military and police is no democracy – democracy is not a state in which people act like sheep (Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi).

Last night we slept in the motorcycle garage of our Rai host. Jeff was next to the TVS Apache; Hoshar by the Eterno 150 – like this we arranged ourselves among the machines.

One wonders what “Apache” is doing… Continue

GANDHI & AYURVEDA --17

More I dig deeper, closer and closer I find Gandhi and Ayurveda. Few days back I was in Rishikesh with a group of student from Italy. The topic was Sankhya Darshan, the basic foundation of Ayurveda. Duiring the course I discovered that in Chapter four, Sutra five, which says, "Shwenvat SukhdhukhiTyagviyogabhiam". It means the basic cause of Dukha is Parigraha, and not the Cancer or Heart Ailments or Hypertention or Aids, as the modern medical science says. It means Aprigraha is the the secreat… Continue

3 September 2009

Today we got underway from Village Koka at 0431 hrs.

The night had been sleepless for Jeff, with his face swollen and seemingly on fire from insect bite.

We start out on a sandy dirt track under a full moon so bright that the stars could not be seen. After getting back onto the pavement, the heavy truck traffic seemed especially disconcerting. There was no thought of a… Continue

Obama Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi

As a child my father had bought me scores of books about Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Martin Luther King and John F Kennedy many of which I have lost on the way. My father and I were frequent visitors to Baskaran Nair’s kiosk in Pulimoodu Junction, Pai & Sons at Statue Junction and the famous Higginbothams in Thiruvananthapuram in India in the sixties.

The famous “I have a dream” speech of Martin Luther King made on the 28th August 1963 from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial had… Continue
