COULD GANDHI BE SAVED : RSS ROLE IN GANDHI ASSASSINATION

It is indeed astonishing that even after a lapse of sixty years there should still be ambivalence about the cold-blooded killing of the greatest human being of our times of whom Einstein said: “"Generations to come, it may be, will scarce believe that such a one as this, ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth." Rather, it would be unsustainable and totally presumptious to raise an issue that there can be two views of the cold and calulated conspiracy which led to the assassination of… Continue

MARTIN LUTHER KING : NOBEL PRIZE WINNER

It will be a rare confluence of the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Junior, nostalgia and jazz when Martin Luther King III comes to India Saturday to retrace the “pilgrimage” of his father 50 years ago.

The trip by Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King, will be bristling with historical memories as he begins his India visit from New Delhi and goes to landmarks his father visited from Feb 10 to March 10, 1959.

Globalising Trusteeship

April 13th marks the anniversary of a terrible event which also illustrates how people can overcome adversity. Ninety years ago, a British General ordered the firing on people peacefully protesting the repression of India. Mohandas K Gandhi was so moved by the massacre in Amritsar that he called for a special week to be observed every year – a Satyagraha Week. “Satya” means truth, “Graha” means both ‘involved in’ and ‘global’. Gandhi used satyagraha to describe a non-violent way of life, that… Continue

Definitely cheers to Obama for some hardspeaking to spolied Americans, otherwise it was difficult to get the Economic of America on rails by him.

Woman of principle proves strength of character

Kathmandu, Nepal, — Sister Shanti died last night due to chronic high blood pressure. The news made me sad. She was not meant to leave us so soon. She passed away when starting to enjoy life. Maybe, fate did not grant her, her share of happiness.

I did not see much of the ups and downs in her life. By the time I came to know her, her life was much more settled. But when my mother had to give an example of an ideal woman, she would refer to Sister Shanti. What I have gathered about… Continue

Eye-for-Eye or Tit-for-tat attitude doesn’t pay, says Economic Journal study

People who live by the motto “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”, then chances are that their life will be full of miseries, a new study has found in Germany.

According to the study, published in the Economic Journal, people who apply a “tit-for-tat” attitude to life are more likely to be unemployed, have a smaller circle of friends and be less happy. However, those individuals who have the habit of repaying good turns from others are likely to earn higher salaries, have more… Continue
