"Bollywood actor Dev Anand has made great contributions to strengthen the relations existing at the people-to-people level by making some very popular films in Nepal. His films helped introduce Nepal's image in India. For the last four decades, Dev Anand's passion to visit Nepal has continued. Even at this stage, he came to Nepal to unveil his autobiography, ‘Romancing With Life.’
Although he is 85, Dev Anand still has the same charisma, and his smile still has the same power to…

Gandhi has given a new concept of solving political, social and economic problems by not using physical force, but positive mental approach and spiritual powar. From time immemorial, human being has been using violent methods to deal with political problems such as Geo-political boundaries, at the global level; and Social problems like land problemes at the local level. We all know that maximum international problems are the disputes over boundaries, and maximum local disputes are over landed…

I was surprised to see in International Media how it projected Gandhi a few weeks ago, "Freedom Fighter Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi". It shows that Gandhi is not completely understood by the media and also by most of the masses. Gandhi is living not only for his role in India's political fight, he is relevent in today's context for his new ideas that he gave to the World. He gave an innovative idea of Freedom, that is 'Swaraj'. That is the concept which he revived, given long back in the…

Dear Gandhi Topia participants,
I recently joined Gandhi Topia thanks to Peter Rule's invitation. I am beginning with this blog in order to see what we have in common and what insights with related actions we arrive at. Below is my Gandhi Topia opening statement. It is challenging because it addresses the most threatening issues to life on earth, at least to life as we know it: Global Climate Change, Peak Oil (and natural resources), and modern war making with weapons of mass…

Meeting with poet Amrita Pritam
Kathmandu, Nepal, When I first met Amrita Pritam, the first prominent Punjabi woman poet (1919-2005), it was July and I was living in Karol Bagh, New Delhi.
When I called her at home, her husband Imroz picked up the phone, and I made an appointment to see her. I am a great fan of her writing. Her stories touch my heart. "Rasidi Ticket" and "Ik Thi Anita" are two of her writings that brought tears to my eyes. On the day of our appointment, I…

Gandhi was the first social thinker in the modern world who discovered this technology to apply non-violence in to social dynamics. Non-violence is not Gandhi's discovery as he hiself very humbally admitted "Truth and Non-violence are as old as hills". From time imemorial, great souls like Buddha and Christ, Mohamad and many others have been using these carnel instruments for their personal liberation. They became Avtars. But society as a whole did not change much.
Gandhi used this…

If we examine our Society thoroughly, we find that one of the most genuin problems is physical and mental sickness which is growing day by day, all over the world. If we are a sick Society how can we think healthy and in a positive way? Why social violence is growing? It is a poitive sign of sickness. The global terrorism should be seen with this point of view, and not only usual administerative issue and can not be solved like any other law and order Problem. Here comes the importance of…

Ayurveda and Gandhi are two subjects that are need of the time. Ayurveda is at least more than 2000 years old as per the modern historians. According to ancient history, it is more than five thousand years old. The basic idea of Ayurveda is to keep human being healthy and happy, and if unfortunately become ill then how to get rid of illness. The ultimate goal of human life is libration, Mukti or Nirvana. It simply means how can be freed from the cycle…

Praying for love and peace
Humanity remains somewhere in the books in Kathmandu. Why is this life so scary without any dreams of peace and love? Why is my mind not able to enjoy the sight of mountains and waterfalls? To tell the truth, I am trying to escape the unstable political situation and bad leadership in Nepal. I do not like horror. I do not like violence. I do not like the killings, corruption, and hatred. My mind gets shattered by violence.
It happened a few days…
