Assam: Free school attracts volunteer from the US

Published on Jun 9, 2012 by ibnlive It's been a year since Uttam Teron was given the CNN-IBN Real Hero Award for his school Parijat Academy, a free school for underprivileged children in Assam. Today the school has 500 students from 14 different tribal communities. The award has helped the school but the road ahead has not been easy. The school is heavily dependent on help from friends and well-wishers. http://ibnlive.com/livetvGuwahati: It's been a year…See More

With love from Assam village: Techno connect to world

A cyber-savvy tribal school teacher uses technology, to expose underprivileged children to the world outside. The Thumb Print delves into the mission of this unique teacher.

It was the year 2005. A perplexed teacher running a school for underprivileged children in a remote village in the Indian state of Assam, came to the nearest city Guwahati. He wanted to learn more about the 'monster' called the internet.…

Dear Uttam Teron, merely to request your assistance in that should you in your travels come across an organization using the name Gandhi which would be interested in endorsing a Martin Luther King Jr. awareness revival to motivate the world citizenry to manifest their capability to make US wars for predatory investments in countries made poor by more than a century of colonial military occupation and exploitation, it would be an opportunity for Westerners to re appreciate the Gandhi-King  connection in terminating imperialist violence. Thanks for visiting me. I too am a teacher in PR China. I have been here 8 years now. I also work for Peace for India and Pakistan. Actually I think Kashmir should be Independent from India and Pakistan. This would stop the fighting over terrority. Each side gives something by allowing Kashmir to be its own country. I think it would be good news for both sides. I also support the complete objective toward disarmament, and the rejection of guns. Militaries in my view create Wars, they don't prevent them. World History proves arms and militaries are the purveyors of evil. It takes courage to walk the planet without a gun. Those who do are the real hero's. Only cowards carry guns, because they can not communicate or have the ability to make friends in the world. We need more jobs in the world. I think India and Pakistan should abandon nuclear weapons, and use Geothermic Development to supply electricity to the population. It is a real solution
