To remember and pay tribute to Gandhiji, I wrote about the first Mahatma Gandhi's statue erected in New Zealand.

On 30 January 1948, Gandhiji was assassinated. To pay homage to him I wrote a blog on 'Mindful Living'…

Applying Gandhiji's teachings in Daily life

Posted on January 24, 2009 at 6:03am 0 Comments

Ahimsa -- a teaching which Gandhiji followed and made it a part of his life is something we all can practice. The word can also mean dynamic compassion, to be actively compassionate rather than be passively non-violent.

One way to practise ahimsa is to lead an environmentally positive lifestyle. Our lifestyle has far reaching effects on the planet. The issues of global warming and climate change are very real and is affecting all of us.

I have written two articles related… Continue

Dear Shushma,

Basically we-humans are not only like the insects, birds, beasts, brutes or animals;but also WE-HUMANS ARE EVEN LOWER THAN THEM;because WE-HUMANS LOVE or CARE FOR NOTHING-ELSE or NOBODY-ELSE, EXCEPT FOR OURSELF or ME or MINE.

In my OPINION SELFISHNESS is the BASE of VIOLANCE.

Because WE HAVE BODY-BRAIN-MIND etc and therefore to LIVE or SURVIVE WE HAVE TO EAT,DRINK,WALK,WORK etc.

Therefore OBVIOUSLY INADVERTANTLY or UNINTENTIONALLY SOME UNSEEN LIVING-BEINGS and LIVING-THINGS ARE BOUND TO GET KILLED or DESTROYED.

But I BELIEVE that IT IS NOT-VIOLANCE.

VIOLANCE IN MY OPINION IS INTENTIONAL HURT,HARM,INJURY,KILLING etc.

Or VIOLANCE IS CARELESSLY HURTING,HARMING,INJURE,KILLING, DESTROYING etc OTHER-BEINGS and OTHER-THINGS.

IF WE WERE AWARE or CAREFUL ABOUT THE HURT,HARM,INJURY, DESTRUCTION etc of OTHERS,than there is no question of VIOLANCE.

Think about that for a moment..!!

Good morning Sushma my name is Garvin Brown I used to live in Lower Hutt and worked for a time in Wellington. In 1960 I decided to get a little warmth in my bones so I moved to Queensland BUT I still barack for the All Blacks.

I am going to Assam in March/April for 6 weeks to Walk for underprivileged Schools.
