About me / us
My Name is Pravin Patel and I am 61 year old. I was born in a small village of Gujarat. My father was a farmer and Gandhian. Since childhood I was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and I decided to live life on Gandhiji’s philosophy and to do something for country and to spread Gandhiji’s thoughts and works. I have seen and felt poverty and very hard village life. After getting school education in my village and college education in Baroda I joined Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Ahmedabad. Now, I am retired and staying in Ahmedabad (Gujarat-India) from last 35 years.
We are remembering Mahatma Gandhi only on 2nd October on his birthday and 30th January on his death anniversary. But we have to remember this great man everyday for whole year. For this I find out a new idea and concept. I purchased a new bicycle and fitted battery operated music system with two speakers for playing Gandhiji's favorite prayer's bhajan (songs). Through this music system I am spreading Gandhiji's message through Gandhiji's favorite prayer's bhajan 'Vaishnav Janato Tenere Kahiye….' and 'Raghupati Raghava Rajaram….'. I named this activity 'Gandhi Feri'. (Feri means Round, Trip)
From last 5 years I wake up early in the morning at 2.30 am everyday (except Sunday). I am starting my Gandhi Feri from my residence at 3.30 am and reaching Gandhi Ashram at 4.30 am. I stay near Gandhi Ashram for half an hour. After that I return back at 5.00 am. on another different route. I am riding my bicycle only on main road on some western part of Ahmedabad. After riding bicycle for 35-kms, I reach back home at 7.15 am.
In early morning I meet all age people but my targets are Children and young students because they are the future of India. They are calling me 'Gandhi Bapu'. I want to keep Mahatma Gandhi in their heart. Everybody likes my activity and they are giving me congratulation notes, love and encouragement. Early in the morning people wait for me and they come in the balcony including children and young students. In my way all age people are also discussing about Gandhiji’s philosophy and work. Most of local news papers and electronics media had published and telecasted my activity news. Every day I am also giving biscuits to poor children in the morning from my pension because Gandhiji was more worried for poor children.
I had also participated and walked 386 km in platinum jubilee of Gandhiji's historical 'Dandi March' (1930) in 2005.

Namaste ~ I found your page because of Dipak's comment. Sir, you are an absolute delight. The example you set spreading the words and story of the Mahatma is a priceless lesson for us all. I am a devotee of Shree Maa of Kamakhya. Inspired by Her, and the lessons of my life, I am trying to sprerad the word about Trusteeism. There are already 1.4 million charitable organizatioins in the United States. Many are simple Trusts used by families to set aside funds for grandchildren and other future descendents. I see that this idea will expand. Trusteeism is the only economic system that can appeal to both our selfish and altruistic natures. As trustees prudently managing property and assets owned by future generations; we have the joy of unselfishly serving our grandchildren and also the joy of selfishly creating a legacy that will earn us much respect in this lifetime. My goal is to research and write a do-it-yourself manual that family units can use to begin using Trusteeism. As an economic system, Trusteeism is unlike either capitalism or socialism. Both of those are systems that tend toward increasing centralization of capital and authority. Trusteeism is a system for local self-reliance at the level of the family unit. It is completely decentralized. Please refer to my posts in the discussion group, "Gandhi & his Philosophies with special reference to Trusteeship. ." Blessings to you and your loved ones. Peace. ~ Chris
