In regard to the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi I am a / we are an: activist

About me / us: I am a 77-year-old man who was groomed in Gandhian ideals by Gandhiji's associate Late Kakasaheb Kalelkar just after independence.

My / our projects, events, campaigns, research, publications: I have spent the last 55 years in managing a rural service centre on Gandhian lines in Nagaland (India), namely Nagaland Gandhi Ashram. Am also editing one bi-monthly journal Ishani for Mahatma Gandhi Ishani Foundation.

I am / We are member of the following institution(s): I am the founder secretary of Nagaland Gandhi Ashram in Chuchuyimlang, Nagaland and Managing Trustee of Mahatma Gandhi Ishani Foundation. Nagaland Gandhi Ashram founded in 1955 has a camp office in Guwahati since the 1990s.

Dear friends,

I am writing this letter to share with you all a report of a highly significant and interesting event that was organized by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on the Gandhi Jayanti Day (2nd October, 2009) at Kokrajhar, Assam, India. I had the good fortune of being a participant at this historic occasion.

I am in Gandhinagar and doing my reasearch on Corporate Social Responsibility, Trusteeship and Peace from Gujarat Vidyapith. By profession I am Engineer-MBA and working with a reputed Government Sector Consultancy Firm (WAPCOS Ltd.) I am equally interested in Gandhian values, too, which I do my best to practice in my personal life, although it is very difficult. Practice is more important than therory. Gandhian theory is useful only when it is put into practice. I will remain in touch with you.

I met you at your Guwahati office way back in 2007, when I stayed at Saraniya ashram, we had a talk for about 30 minutes or so, as I came as a researcher to seek details about Gandhian activities among the indigenous communities of North East India. certainly it was a pleasure to meet you.

India Redefined draws its inspiration from Gandhian Movement which was a revolution focused on independence. It was also about specific actions like non- cooperation by citizens. We are just trying to apply many Gandhiji's principles’ in this era, in this society and during these times. Maybe in a different flavor! Maybe the context is different! Maybe it’s a different world! But the goal is same! He also wanted India a better place to live in.

Thousands of people have joined this movement across the globe but we have only 37 Chapter co-ordinators till now to take on the responsibility, by rotation in different cities of India.It is voluntary work.
