Across the world, women are treated unequally and less value is placed on their lives because
of their gender. Women's differential access to power and control of resources is central to this
discrimination in all institutional spheres,
Gender-based discrimination in education is both a cause and a consequence of deep-rooted
disparities in society. Poverty, geographical isolation, ethnic background, disability, traditional
attitudes about their status and role all undermine the ability of women and girls to exercise their
rights. Harmful practices, gender-based violence, and discriminatory education laws, policies,
contents and practices still prevent millions of girl's form enrolling, completing and benefitting from
Gender must therefore be integrated at all levels of education, from early childhood to higher
education, in formal and non-formal settings and from planning infrastructure to training teachers.
As education is increasingly considered as one of the most effective investments for achieving
equitable and sustainable development, realizing gender equality must become a priority in the effort
to promote the right to education for all .gender, the most prevalent form of diversity in our lives, can
be an important tool to promote racial consciousness and awareness of other forms of discrimination
Conflict disrupts the social interactions of everyday life – changing the roles men and women
play and how they relate to each other in society. This interaction between gender and conflict has
major implications for how we should think about conflict, security and opportunities for peace.
In order to ensure sustainable development, it has become imperative to respect full gender equity
and equality. Development activities may affect women and men differently, and therefore must be
emphasizes, the need to apply appropriate gender planning in order to ensure that the resulting
conditions and results are equitable to women and men. Gender equality, development and peace
are linked: there can be no peace without development, and no sustainable development without
gender equality.
Keeping this in view the international conference on gender peace Education and
development is being organized by Vivek College of Education Bijnor .it attempts to explore and
examine different issues ,constraints and innovations in the field of gender peace ,education and
Gender and peace are closely linked: peace is vital to promote gender equality, while gender
inequality can also undermine peace and drive conflict and violence. Conflict and violence have to
date been the most important factors obstructing progress on the MDG.
