About me / us
My interest in promoting Earth stewardship began during the first Earth Day in New York City. I became the founding coordinator for Common Cause in the 15 C.D. in Pennsylvania to promote environmental causes by working for governmental reform and accountability and worked for Campaign Reform, the Sunshine Law, the Lobby Disclosure Act, & Finance Disclosure for public officials. I become the Publicity Chairman for Common Cause of Pennsylvania.
In 1993 I founded the Butterfly Gardeners Association (BGA). Its mission is to make the butterfly a symbol for a sustainable environment, world peace, and the conscious evolution of the human race. It also seeks to foster an appreciation of butterflies, hummingbirds, dragonflies, and other lifeforms. We emphasize the need for conservation of natural habitats in our communities and around the world. Our programs promote the installation of butterfly gardens, children's environmental education, reading, and nonviolence programs. Our board has many antinuclear activists on it, including David Seaborg, Norie Huddle, Patch Adams, and Thomas Tanemori.
Since first moving to Berkeley in January 1998 I have networked the BGA with organizations all over the world and have received endorsements from over 200 organizations and prominent leaders. In 1998 and 1999 I worked with Earth Day in Berkeley and Contra Costa and organized the raising and releasing of over 10,000 school children in the East Bay alone. I have received honorary citations from the Pennsylvania Senate and House for work his work in raising global consciousness and in environmental education.
Recently I began working with Dr. Patch Adams to promote environmental education, wildlife gardening for butterflies and humming birds, conservation, nonviolence reading programs, world peace, community service and organizing.
In 2000 I founded Musicians & Fine Artists for World Peace to promote events and concerts to support our environment and peace organizing.
My / our projects, events, campaigns, research, publications
Musicians & Fine Artists for World Peace was founded by Alan Moore in 1999 to help produce, promote and support worldwide and regional cultural events, concerts and festivals that champion basic human rights, nonviolence, world peace and environmental awareness.
Our events will lend support to election reforms such as campaign financing, clean elections, the reform of the Electoral College system and Congressman Dennis Kucinich's proposal for a cabinet level Department of Peace that is being promoted by the Peace Alliance, www.thepeacealliance.org
We are working to support a U.S. cabinet level Department of Peace because its goals include the creating of a national peace and nonviolence curriculum for school children and adults, programs to address the cycle of abuse and violence that threaten domestic and community environments, as well as finding new solutions to resolve international conflicts.
Our events will also support the overall raising of global consciousness in order to
1. protect the earth and its natural resources, including the preservation of rain and old growth forests
2. end the cycle of violence and abuse rooted in our male dominated culture,
3. raise corporate responsibility and oversight
4. help indigenous people's causes and the preservation of their culture
5. establish an international treaty banning space based weapons,
6. increase funding for art and music programs
7. acknowledgment those artists and musicians who uphold the planetary virtues important to transforming and improving our lives, our culture and society at large.
Our current projects are:
40th Anniversary Woodstock Tour - We are working with some or our members and producers to organize a 40th Anniversary Woodstock Tour next year in the true spirit of what Woodstock was all about.
