As concrete activitiy I suggest to promote the Pledge of Nonviolence widely. Apart of our own adopting the pledge we should try to convince people throughout the year to adopt the pledge but especially on 2 October we should go out - physically or virtually - to convince more and more folks to adopt the goals of nonviolence by joining GandhiTopia's Pledge of Nonviolence group. Apart of the mere pledge it gives them and our co-members the change to share experience with violence and nonviolence.

Excellent and right proposal...we must create pressure...it must be the day to create opinion to stop communal thoughts...

Gandhi's life was devoted to make a better India through good means according to circumstances. Today's need to save India from politician-administrator nexus has no answers, except violent actions by people. Even Gandhi would have supported it under the present circumstances of India.
But still, I am open to accept if somebody suggests a practicable solution.

Thank you for creating this forum. I request all Gandhitopians to come together to spread awareness about this day and make October 2nd 2010 a widely observed International Non Violence Day.

To popularize observation of this day, we need to come up with a simple idea that can be adopted across the globe on this day. For example, Earth Hour became popular because all people needed to do was to simply switch off their lights for an hour at a specific time. Please share your ideas on thsi forum.

What actions can signify international non violence that every day people can do easily?

Some ideas for example:
1) Going vegetarian for that one day October 2nd.
-- getting vegetarian/vegan restaurants to promote the International Non Violence day
2) Tweeting about 1 non violent act you chose to do on October 2nd.
3) Signature drive for a peace petition to be sent to countries at war.

I am sure one of you can come up with a better idea than that :)
