WARDHA: A group of journalists from Delhi visited Wardha to have in-depth knowledge of the problems faced by the people and the potential of the district. The tour was organized by New Delhi-based Maharashtra Information Centre.
The group visited several places including Bapu Kuti in Sewagram, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Acharya Vinoba Bhave rural hospital and some other social organizations. Convener of the tour Pravin Take said, "We organized the tour to understand the social, economic, cultural scenario of Vidarbha. Often tours are organized to the western Maharashtra, but the potential of Vidarbha has yet to be brought into focus. We are happy to claim that Vidarbha can develop itself with its own resources."
"Sewagram in Wardha was once a centre of Indian politics, but now the development of this place has stopped. However, it still provides energy to social activists. We have hardly studied Mahatma Gandhi, the place inspires to do so," he added.
