BANGALORE: The Karnataka government has decided to erect a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in meditative mood, like the one in the Parliament premises, in the premises of Vidhana Soudha.
Legislative council chairman D H Shankaramurthy told reporters here on Wednesday that the statue would come up between Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha. A committee formed for the purpose has recommended for the erection of the statue.
The government has planned to contact the same sculptor who had sculpted the statue in Parliament premises to prepare the replica. He is from Maharashtra and we are trying to contact him. The statue will be erected in another six months time,'' Shankaramurthy said.
