Ela Bhatt releases book in Jitendra Desai's honour

A tribute was paid to late Jitendra Desai, follower of Mahatma Gandhi's principles, in the form of a book, Gandhi Sahitya na Sarthi - Jitendra Desai (Smruti Granth). The book was released by SEWA founder Ela Bhatt in presence of Desai's son and ace photographer, Vivek Desai; social activist, Prakash Shah and Vidyut Joshi.
Joshi said, "The 225-page book has 65 stories written by close friends and associates of Jitendra Desai. Desai had lucrative offers including that of being editor of different magazines and vice-chancellor of a university. But he chose to run Navjivan Trust and did so for 40 years."
He further said, "After 1975, every three years, printing technology changed and Desai accepted all of these. Though he introduced publishing industry and reporting changes, transformation in organisational set-up, he remained Gandhian and was a great author."
