Where is the government’s version of the “LokPal” Bill?
While Team Anna’s fast entering into 9th day, the people of India is keenly watching on any likely move by the government. What would be the next action by the government with Team Anna’s persistent and determined claim for a strong LokPal bill and an enquiry on a few ministers?
Now, it has become apparent that the Team is not willing to compromise with the government in any form, as Mr.Arvind Kejriwal emphatically questioned “Where is the question of compromising with corruption?” The nation is expecting some kind of actions like Team Anna’s arrest, or Hospitalization. And the government is firm on its stand in not negotiating once again with the Team.
My question is: What happened to the promise made by the government to implement the accepted version of the LokPal bill? Is not the responsibility of the government to fulfill the promise made to the people of India in bringing the legislation and start implementing on it? Is not the government doing eyewash in dealing with the Team Anna, creating scene and hype among the media and the public?
What the people of India want is an action towards implementing the LokPal bill, not to take action on the protestors and betray the nation. The government has nothing more to discuss about LokPal in the parliament, it claims. Instead, it is trying to do secret talks as the Team Anna alleged.
Why is the government not sending the bill to the President for approval? How long the people of India should wait for the Bill to get cleared and implemented?
