The Third Eye idea is associated with the destructive power of Lord Siva. In the East it is, as far as I know not associated with TRUTH. Somebody may have interpreted in that light. but I would like to stick to the original meaning. When Siva opened his third eye located on his forehead it produced fire which burnt down Kaamdeva (Lord of Sex). I would however like you to refer me to some literature containing the interpretation that you mention here.

Dear Dipak,
Thank you for your answer that is the historical Siva and well written of.. The Third Eye in the West appears to be generally understood as another name for the penial gland at the forefront of the human brain. Some believe that stimulated by good works it transforms to a gateway for the brain to greatly develop and recognise the truth through recognising reality, as known of by Higher Beings.than ourselves.

Dear Thomas,
It sounds pseudo-scientific or myth. Yoga-Gurus or spiritual Gurus who have invaded the West from the East are more likely to use such pseudo-scientific language which they think is necessary today as people get easily impressed by such words and start to think that Spiritualism and material science are one and the same.
Some times ago, a woman preacher on an Indian TV channel was using the term 'quantum mechanics'. to justify myths of transportation of old yogis in India who were here this moment and appeared there in the next moment. Agreed. She must have impressed her audience, but not me.! First of all, I was sure she did not understand 'quantum mechanics'; Second, I believe, she did not understand 'spiritualism'. It is certainly not a physical response.
About Truth. THE TRUTH is that theTruth has many facets and no one has monopoly over it.
So,we can call it the Third Eye. You do not look at things in usual manner but in an unusual manner.That is, not only from your own point of view. This is acceptable poetic justification of Third Eye. Nothing physical because brain does not record 'good' or 'bad'. These are our responses conditioned by our societies, families, schools, friends, books.and what not!
