he Gandhian Studies Centre of Dr. BMN College of Home Science was established in 2013 with a grant from the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. The main objective of the Centre is to create an understanding and appreciation of Gandhian philosophy in all walks of life. We believe that our task as educators is to generate an intellectual curiosity about this remarkable leader, philosopher, social activist and writer.
To mark the conclusion of the sesquicentennial year of Mahatma Gandhi , we propose a collection of essays on the continued relevance of Gandhian values in the 21st Century. The world has changed dramatically over the last 150 years since Gandhiji lived and worked. However, the tribulations and challenges faced by the Mahatma, and his responses to the same, remain relevant to date. Gandhi’s timeless principles continue to guide us to a just and better world. We invite perspectives from across disciplines on areas such as education and pedagogy, environment, literary perspectives, social justice, communal harmony, philosophy of non-violence, social and political activism, among others. Contributions should be between 4000-5000 words and articulated in a non-academic style so as to be accessible to a wider, non-academic audience. Papers will be due by June 30th 2019 so as to allow time for processing and release of the publication before 2nd October 2019. Paper contributors are requested to adhere to the research-oriented standard following the MLA(8th edition) and to maintain without variation the Times New Roman, Font size 12, with margin 1.0 inch and 1.5 inch spacing. The Centre may self-publish the collection. Our aim is to ensure wide distribution of the collection at an affordable rate.
